Position Overview:
  • Assessment Expertise: Possesses a thorough understanding of the developmental stages from Pediatric to Geriatric, providing tailored patient care. Conducts detailed assessments that are systematic, comprehensive, and precise.
  • Professional Conduct: Upholds professional responsibilities and demonstrates a solid understanding of policies and procedures, identifying opportunities for clinical and professional advancement.
  • Patient Safety: Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals, including the Universal Protocol, and ensures accurate patient identification using two identifiers. Employs safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics for both self and patients.
  • Unit-Specific Responsibilities: Displays knowledge of conditions, procedures, and equipment relevant to surgical patients. Customizes patient care based on the procedure and anesthesia type throughout the care continuum. Evaluates patient reactions and comprehension of procedures and instructions.
  • Accountability: Plays a vital role in the perioperative team by taking responsibility for directing patient care, prioritizing based on patient needs and any changes in their condition.
  • Patient Education: Evaluates patient understanding of surgical procedures and instructions, actively involving patients and their families in the educational process. Conducts pre-operative and post-operative assessments and education.
  • Pre-Admission Testing Support: Facilitates timely completion of patient testing. Reviews Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) orders for suitability and identifies any potential omissions based on the planned surgery, patient age, and overall health status.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with an associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Current State or Compact RN license is mandatory.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • ACLS certification is required.
  • PALS certification is required.
