Key Responsibilities
The Urodynamics Technician plays a crucial role in upholding professional standards while ensuring high-quality patient care. Responsibilities encompass conducting effective urodynamic and video urodynamic assessments, educating patients, assisting in research initiatives, and supporting daily operations within the Center for Continence Care. The technician also collaborates with physicians and may travel to various clinics as required.
Specific Duties Include:
- Administer direct patient care for routine urodynamic evaluations, including catheterizations, with a focus on infection prevention.
- Support the physician during video urodynamic procedures.
- Assist in interpreting urodynamic studies alongside the physician.
- Facilitate additional procedures related to urodynamic testing, such as cystoscopy, bladder ultrasound, and vaginal/rectal examinations.
- Conduct basic urinalysis, ensuring proper specimen collection and handling.
- Provide comprehensive education to patients regarding procedures.
- Maintain and troubleshoot urodynamic equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Contribute to research studies under the guidance of the Research Coordinator, including adherence to protocols, data collection, and patient follow-up.
- Communicate effectively with patients to alleviate concerns and foster a professional, safe environment.
- Play an essential role in maintaining an efficient and patient-centered department.
- Support departmental upkeep by ensuring a clean work environment and managing supply inventory.
- Handle incoming calls, addressing patient inquiries about urodynamic testing and assisting with appointment scheduling.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Training in Urodynamics.
- Graduation from an accredited LPN or Medical Assistant program (MA's must achieve certification within one year of employment).
