Our team consists of highly skilled engineers, ranging from recent graduates to seasoned professionals.

We are committed to delivering high-quality, optimal silicon initialization firmware across various technologies, including DDR/LPDDR, infinity fabric, inference processing, and UEFI BIOS, which are essential to AMD's product roadmap.

THE PERSON:
We seek a leader with a proven track record in developing and delivering high-quality firmware in bare-metal or near-bare-metal environments. You should be ready to engage directly in coding and debugging to ensure timely project delivery. Your leadership and technical expertise will be crucial in collaborating across teams to drive innovation, enhance processes, and implement best-in-class firmware development methodologies.

Key attributes include strong problem-solving skills, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to inspire and elevate the team. You should possess excellent communication, presentation, and conflict resolution skills, along with hands-on technical management experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage a team of highly skilled firmware engineers across various programs.
- Collaborate with architects, business unit leaders, and program management to plan, schedule, and allocate resources for new initiatives.
- Gain familiarity with underlying hardware to provide technical leadership and guidance.
- Support emulation and simulation teams during the pre-silicon phase to validate SOC hardware and firmware components.
- Work with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to identify and resolve dependencies, ensuring key program milestones are met.
- Implement industry-standard engineering processes to enhance firmware quality and team productivity.
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation, continuous improvement, and learning.
- Keep management informed of ongoing risks and challenges, along with mitigation strategies.
- Mentor team members, understand their career aspirations, and actively support their professional growth through coaching and feedback.
- Identify, recruit, and nurture top firmware talent.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Extensive experience in UEFI BIOS development, with familiarity in at least one BIOS code base (EDKII, AMI, Insyde, or Phoenix BIOS).
- Background in computer architecture, including knowledge of memory interleaving, system memory maps, and NUMA domain concepts.
- Understanding of x86-SoC architecture, including processors, system IO, memory, and various engine IPs (e.g., graphics, display, video codec, etc.).
- Knowledge of firmware development, integration, and verification/validation cycles for pre-silicon and post-silicon SoC designs.
- Proficiency in low-level C programming and debugging for embedded systems, with the ability to diagnose complex failure mechanisms at various levels.
- Experience with pre-silicon testing methodologies and platforms (Simulation and/or Emulation) and hands-on involvement in board, processor, or ASIC bring-up.
- Familiarity with source control systems, including git/gerrit.

At AMD, your compensation package includes base pay and may encompass additional incentives based on your role. We offer competitive benefits and encourage applications from all qualified candidates, ensuring an inclusive hiring process.
