Role Summary:

The Information Security Specialist will be responsible for executing a comprehensive range of intricate security protocols and methodologies essential for safeguarding information systems and assets. This role is pivotal in protecting systems and data from both intentional and unintentional breaches or destruction.

The specialist will ensure that all users comprehend and comply with the requisite procedures and protocols necessary for maintaining security integrity. Responsibilities include conducting advanced IT data and security forensic investigations, as well as managing internal vulnerability assessments to align with regulatory and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform in-depth cybersecurity assessments and vulnerability scanning using tools such as Tenable/Nessus.
  • Manage endpoint protection solutions, including AV/XDR policy configurations and endpoint agents.
  • Oversee SIEM systems, including logging, syslog management, and alerting mechanisms.
  • Administer Windows and Linux server environments for on-premise cybersecurity applications.
  • Utilize cybersecurity tools for routine security operations, including Nmap, Wireshark, and phishing simulations.
  • Engage in situational tabletop exercises focused on malware, phishing, and ransomware scenarios.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity.
  • Proficiency in vulnerability scanning, identification, and remediation processes.
  • Experience with penetration testing and endpoint hardening.
  • Familiarity with CIS benchmarks, NIST/Cybersecurity frameworks, and the MITRE ATT&CK Matrix.
  • Knowledge of various threat vectors, threat hunting techniques, and incident response strategies.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure commonly found in large organizations, including load balancers, firewalls, and database management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with XQL, Python, and PowerShell.
  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications.
