Job Summary

Masonicare at Ashlar Village, a Senior Living Community in Wallingford, CT, seeks a skilled Residential Environment Maintenance Specialist to perform various cleaning tasks and maintain resident areas, offices, corridors, and public spaces.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assessment and improvement programs, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Work from a schedule that outlines frequency and timing of tasks, lead cleaning crews or assigned projects, and perform housekeeping duties when not assigned project work.
  • Empties trash, biomedical waste, and recyclables, transports them to central collection sites, operates compactors, packages biomedical waste, strips and refinishes floors, extracts carpets, dry mops, and wet mops floors.
  • Completes work orders on time, moves, removes, and relocates furniture, furnishings, equipment, etc., as directed, sets up for meetings, activities, and special programs.
  • Successfully completes initial cleanings on vacant units, communicates effectively with adult and older adult residents/patients recognizing their age, culture, needs, abilities, and physical condition.
  • Attends department and AV meetings, inservice programs, understands and follows universal precautions relevant to their department.
  • Performs all duties safely, respectfully, with care and concern for residents/patients/clients and staff, reports clinical concerns to staff, maintains a healthy, clean, safe environment for the Ashlar Village population.
  • Operates vacuum cleaners, mechanical floor/carpet machinery, washes window draperies, walls, vents, etc., performs other duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Experience: On-the-job training.
  • Licensure: Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to read daily schedules, follow instructions, work in teams, possess interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
