Position Overview

The Supportive Housing Clinician plays a vital role in providing assistance to tenants and staff within the Supportive Housing department at Pine Street Inn. This position focuses on delivering clinical services, support, and consultation to address the multifaceted needs of tenants who may have experienced trauma, mental health challenges, or substance use disorders. Utilizing a Harm Reduction approach, the clinician engages with individuals to facilitate intervention and assessment.

Key Responsibilities

The clinician will collaborate closely with the Housing Support Services teams and external providers, such as BHCHP, to ensure effective tenancy preservation and promote greater independence among residents. Regular communication with the Housing Stabilization Team (HST) is essential, particularly regarding high-risk individuals and programs that require acute attention.

Qualifications

Educational Background:

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., social work, clinical psychology, nursing, education).

Licensure:

  • LICSW, LMHC, or equivalent licensure (e.g., LCSW) or the ability to secure licensure within six months of employment.
  • Advanced training in hoarding or the capability to obtain Hoarding Certification within one year of hire.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of three years of direct care experience, including assessment and therapy for adults with mental health and/or substance use disorders.
  • Proficiency in delivering education on substance use, trauma, co-occurring disorders, and general mental health.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in management information systems or database applications.
  • A deep understanding and commitment to the principles of Harm Reduction.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals facing chronic homelessness and complex medical needs.
  • Background in coaching and mentoring non-clinical staff.
  • Familiarity with the Housing First model for permanent, supported housing.
  • Expertise in Motivational Interviewing and case management.
  • Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care and its effects on direct-care staff.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is a plus.
