Job Title: Medical Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at St. Charles Health System. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for daily patient flow, triage, and preparation for physician assessments. You will work closely with physicians and non-clinical staff to ensure comprehensive and compassionate healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare for physician assessments
  • Record and maintain patient medical data in patient charts
  • Assist physicians with phone requests and communicate with other medical professionals
  • Perform various physician-requested procedures and maintain equipment and supply inventory
  • Support Lean principles and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide a safe and respectful environment for patients, caregivers, and guests
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant certification preferred
  • Basic knowledge of ICD-10, CM/CPT/HCPCS coding conventions and procedures
  • Working knowledge of medical practice management information systems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet HIPAA requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of Medical Assisting experience
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) certification
Work Environment:

This role requires standing, walking, and keyboard operation for extended periods. You will also be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
