Human Resources Business Partner Opportunity

U.S. VETS, a leading nonprofit organization providing vital services to veterans, seeks a seasoned Human Resources Business Partner to join our Inland Empire team.

Company Overview: As the nation's largest veteran services nonprofit, U.S. VETS offers comprehensive support at 32 residential and service sites, aiming to end veteran homelessness through housing development and homeless prevention programs.

About the Role: This key position will report directly to the Executive Director and work closely with the Director of Human Resources at the National Office. The successful candidate will coordinate human resources activities, advise management on employee issues, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Policy Development: Collaborate with the National office to create, document, and implement human resources policies, programs, and processes, as well as update job descriptions.
  2. Employment Management: Manage all aspects of employment, including recruitment, applicant screening, interview scheduling, new hire onboarding, and termination process.
  3. Employee Coaching and Training: Establish and conduct orientation and training programs to prepare employees for assignments.
  4. Payroll Assistance: Assist with payroll processing, staff training on proper time and activity reporting, and resolution of any payroll discrepancies.
  5. Performance Reviews: Manage and coordinate the annual performance review process.
  6. Legal Compliance: Monitor and implement applicable human resource federal and state requirements.
  7. Employee Relations: Investigate employee relations issues, research employee grievances, and suggest resolutions to the Executive Director.
  8. HR Support: Respond to HR questions, coach managers and supervisors on appropriate responses to employee inquiries.
  9. Benefits Administration: Manage benefits enrollment for new employees and annual open enrollment process.
  10. Government Interactions: Research and assist with responses filed with government agencies.
  11. Initial Unemployment Claims: Respond to initial unemployment claims and employment verifications.
  12. Administrative Support: Provide high-caliber human resources administrative support to site management.

Requirements:

  • Exempt FLSA Classification
  • Strong understanding of human resources principles and practices
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement
  • High level of organizational and time management skills

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary range of $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience
