Magnet Medical is seeking a skilled Medical Imaging Specialist to fill a CT Technologist position in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Job Overview

This 13-week contract role offers the opportunity to work as a Traveling Medical Imaging Specialist, performing diagnostic imaging procedures using computed tomography (CT) scanners. The ideal candidate will have experience with CT equipment, patient preparation, and radiation safety protocols.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Preparation and Communication:
    • Prepare patients for CT scans by explaining the procedure and ensuring their comfort.
    • Verify patient information, including medical history and allergies, to ensure accurate diagnosis.
    • Position patients correctly on the CT table for high-quality images.
    • Instruct patients on breathing or remaining still during scans.
  • Operation of CT Equipment:
    • Operate and calibrate the CT scanner according to proper settings and protocols.
    • Administer contrast agents or dye injections under physician guidance.
    • Monitor equipment during imaging to capture high-quality images.
  • Image Quality and Review:
    • Review images for quality, ensuring all required areas are captured.
    • Work closely with radiologists to ensure images meet diagnostic standards.
    • Repeat or adjust scans as necessary to improve image quality.
  • Patient Safety and Comfort:
    • Follow safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure.
    • Maintain a sterile and safe environment in the CT room.
    • Ensure proper patient positioning to prevent injury or discomfort.
    • Monitor patients for adverse reactions to contrast agents.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with healthcare professionals to determine imaging procedures.
    • Document patient information, scan parameters, and any complications.
    • Participate in patient care planning discussions.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
    • Maintain, clean, and perform basic troubleshooting on the CT scanner and associated equipment.
    • Perform routine inspections and calibration of CT equipment.
    • Keep accurate logs of equipment use and maintenance.
  • Radiation Safety and Compliance:
    • Follow radiation safety protocols to protect patients and staff.
    • Ensure compliance with regulations, including HIPAA and Joint Commission guidelines.
    • Stay updated on changes to regulatory standards.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping:
    • Accurately document imaging procedures and patient information.
    • Ensure documentation is compliant with hospital policies and industry standards.
    • Assist with maintaining patient flow by providing quick turnaround times for imaging results.
  • Patient Education and Support:
    • Provide education and guidance to patients regarding aftercare and potential side effects.
    • Address patient concerns and offer support as needed.
    • Ensure patient privacy and dignity are maintained throughout the imaging process.
  • Professional Development and Training:
    • Participate in continuing education to stay current with advancements in CT imaging technology.
    • Attend training sessions and seminars on new imaging techniques or equipment.
    • Maintain professional certification and licensure.

The estimated salary for this role is approximately $$120,000 per year, based on 40 hours per week and 10 hour shifts, with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
