Job Summary

The Nursing Informatics Specialist plays a critical role in promoting effective process design, development, and implementation of the electronic medical record (EMR) and other technology enhancements. This individual will lead initiatives to determine the needs and requirements for clinical applications within the acute and ambulatory healthcare settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with end users to define healthcare information problems and solutions
  • Lead projects and programs independently to promote the use of evidence-based clinical practice and workflow standardization
  • Develop and implement clinical applications to improve patient care processes

Requirements:

  • BSN degree from an accredited college/university
  • Minimum of three years clinical experience with at least one year experience participating in organizational EMR projects
  • Nursing Informatics Certification (NI-BC) within three years of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MSN, Health Care Administration, or Informatics degree
  • Current knowledge of hospital-related accreditation and regulatory issues
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
