Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will have the opportunity to work with world-renowned surgeons and contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Registered Nurse Circulators in preparing the operating room for surgical procedures and maintaining a safe and efficient environment.
  • Provide perioperative patient care, including selection and inspection of surgical supplies and equipment, and maintaining aseptic and sterile technique.
  • Pass surgical instruments and anticipate the needs of surgeons during procedures.
  • Participate in operating room turnover and assist with cleaning and preparing surgical instruments for terminal sterilization.
  • Lead and direct perioperative patient care assignments, serving as a technical subject matter expert and resource person for unlicensed team members.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two to three years' experience in surgical technology, with knowledge of eight to ten surgical specialties and ability to operate basic/standard operating room equipment.
  • Surgical Technologist Certification, completion of an appropriate training program, or equivalent experience required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) course approved by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in a hospital/clinical setting, with constant walking, standing, bending, turning, and stooping.
