Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Grain Elevator Operator to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of rail cars and trucks, as well as performing a variety of duties related to grain handling and storage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in our comprehensive Safety Program and attend daily pre-shift meetings to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Perform duties in compliance with OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment as required.
  • Transfer, load, and move grain to designated locations, and perform rail duties such as preparing, unloading, loading, and placing rail cars.
  • Weigh trucks and grade grain, and complete documentation accurately and legibly.
  • Perform general clean-up, including sweeping, shoveling, washing, painting, and other housekeeping responsibilities.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs, and maintain grain quality while it is stored and transferred.
  • May be responsible for moving product to storage, loading trucks using heavy equipment, loading rail, operating dryers, and operating heavy equipment, depending on the facility and location.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • No prior experience required, but 1 year of experience working in an industrial environment is preferred.
  • Basic mathematical skills, effective interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to follow directions and use logical thought processes.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team, and to use tools appropriate for assigned tasks.
  • Ability to remain focused on exceptional customer service, both internally and externally.
Physical Demands and Requirements
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 45 pounds occasionally, and push and pull up to 100 pounds frequently, where applicable.
  • Ability to climb, bend, and twist occasionally, and to open truck hoppers, where applicable.
  • Ability to stand and walk frequently, grasp and reach frequently, and understand and communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions, climb stairs and ladders to significant heights, and perform work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to meet requirements of PFT and fit testing, and to wear personal protective equipment as required.
