Emergency Department Technician

Baystate Health is seeking a skilled Emergency Department Technician to join our team at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, MA.
About the Role:This is a dynamic and challenging role that requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. As an Emergency Department Technician, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, performing various technical tasks, and assisting with procedures.
Responsibilities:- Provide age-appropriate care to patients, demonstrating knowledge of developmental stages and applying developmental theories and concepts when implementing care.
- Monitor basic physiological parameters, taking and recording routine vital signs within the specified timeframe, and reporting any significant deviations in vital signs.
- Administer treatments and procedures in accordance with Baystate Health policy and procedures, including changing dressings, providing postmortem care, and assisting with exams and simple procedures.
- Assist patients with elimination of body wastes, making available or offering bedpans, urinals, and emesis basins, and accurately labeling and sending specimens.
- Perform POC testing, including department-specified testing, ISAT, Urisys, Glucose testing, Pregnancy testing, and all QA associated with the POC testing function.
- Assist with treatment by following specified orders as delegated by the RN or provider treatment plans, monitoring patient condition during treatment, and notifying appropriate personnel of unexpected occurrences.
- Communicate effectively with team members and patients, interacting with patients in a respectful and informative manner, and clearly communicating information related to patient care.
- Initiate emergency procedures, responding effectively in emergency situations, maintaining patient safety at all times, and communicating effectively with appropriate personnel.
- Function as a member of the team, assisting team members with clinical activities, providing feedback related to the team process, and assisting team members with non-clinical activities.
- Maintain knowledge on current throughput and patient progress initiatives to maximize patient flow in the Emergency department, actively engaging in patient flow initiatives.
- Comply with duties and responsibilities, providing for patient safety at all times by maintaining a patient room free of clutter and waste, implementing appropriate safety practices and protocols as per nursing intervention and direction.
- Direct patient care experience 1-3 years
- EMT, ED/Urgent care experience or relative experience through the military medical units (Medic/Coreman training) preferred but not required
- American Heart Association BLS CPR certification
