Job Description

This role is part of ITW's Specialty Segment, Zip-Pak division, which is the global leader in resealable solutions for the flexible packaging industry. The Senior HR Generalist will provide day-to-day professional HR support and policy administration across the North America division, with a primary focus on the non-exempt workforce.

The Senior HR Generalist will serve as a trusted HR partner and advisor to departmental leaders to carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: Employee Relations, Wellness & Benefits, Compensation, Recruitment, Leave Management, and Performance & Talent Management.

This role will support plants in Ottawa, IL, Manteno, IL, and Atlanta, GA, and may require occasional travel to Atlanta, GA and Manteno, IL.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides coaching and support to front line management in solving employee relations issues, such as policy violations, attendance concerns, and performance issues
  • Coach business leaders and their teams on development of others. Helps identify developmental opportunities for talent pipeline within the business unit and tracks progress on development action plans
  • Inputs and maintains employee data in the Workday HRIS system such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for reporting
  • Reviews existing human resources policies and procedures within the business units for which they are responsible, and initiates changes as necessary to ensure compliance with law, corporate policies, and business objectives
  • Conducts and analyzes wage survey data. Maintains position descriptions and market comparisons
  • Manages the division performance review and compensation processes for non-exempt employees
  • Coordinate wellness events and activities for the division
  • Disability Management process owner for the division, including running a highly effective return-to-work process
  • Supports HR with recruitment activities for the division
  • Lead or participate in HR projects
Requirements
  • BS/BA in Human Resources, Business Administration, or relevant field, preferred
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in human resources including knowledge of recruitment processes, benefit and compensation administration and practices, employee relations, and legal compliance requirements
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills; demonstrates good listening skills; able to communicate status on process with colleagues, keep team members informed, and responds clearly to employee inquiries
  • Independent and organized work style: Effectively manage time and prioritize work load, assume and manage multiple tasks without close supervision, adapt to change, and consistently meet deadlines
  • Strong technical skills / aptitude: Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, Outlook, PPT and Excel). Experience with Workday HRIS System and/or Dayforce preferred
  • Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and employee information
  • Ability to prepare reports, presentations, analyses using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to effectively handle pressure and challenges
  • The capability to take proactive steps in managing problems
