Position Overview

Enterprise Community Loan Fund (ECLF) is a certified community development financial institution and a proud member of the Enterprise family of companies. Since its inception, Enterprise has raised and deployed substantial resources to support low-income individuals and communities, significantly contributing to the development and preservation of affordable housing.

The Senior Loan Officer role is pivotal, with responsibilities spanning across Enterprise's national footprint. This position will focus on underwriting loan requests aimed at community development projects, particularly in the areas of community facilities and climate-related lending for affordable housing.

The Senior Loan Officer will also lead special lending initiatives and collaborate with various divisions within Enterprise Community Partners.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify lending opportunities and originate new loans through Enterprise's network and external partnerships.
  • Structure and negotiate financing proposals, preparing detailed loan packages for management review and approval.
  • Analyze third-party due diligence reports to assess transaction viability and determine suitable loan structures.
  • Coordinate the preparation of commitment letters and loan documentation with legal counsel.
  • Oversee the closing process, ensuring all necessary items are collected, reviewed, and executed.
  • Manage a select number of existing loans within the portfolio.
  • Maintain organized loan files to ensure audit readiness and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with local and regional teams to leverage Enterprise resources effectively.
  • Support the organization's strategic goals, including increasing housing supply and promoting racial equity.
  • Keep activity records updated in ECLF's Salesforce system.
  • Assist with additional projects as required.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree in business, finance, sustainability, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of five years of lending experience, including three years focused on community development real estate underwriting.

Valuable experience may include:

  • Working with Federally Qualified Health Centers and Charter Schools.
  • Engagement in New Markets Tax Credit transactions and affordable housing finance.
  • Experience in solar development, energy efficiency, and renewable energy finance.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to independently prepare and negotiate complex transactions while balancing the needs of community organizations with sound underwriting practices. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively are essential.

Proficiency in business development, analytical skills, and communication is crucial, along with expertise in Excel and familiarity with Salesforce. Knowledge of community development programs that finance affordable housing and related activities is beneficial.

Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time is expected.
