Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct electrical work and procure necessary materials.
  • Assist in building renovations, maintenance, and new construction projects.
  • Support the setup of new and existing test engines.
  • Strive to meet project deadlines, occasionally working overtime as required.


Daily and Monthly Duties:
  • Possess knowledge of the National Electrical Code and apply it effectively in the workplace.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and demonstrate strong communication skills.
  • Safely operate hand tools and larger workshop equipment (e.g., drill press, band saws).
  • Respond promptly to electrical malfunctions to minimize laboratory downtime.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues for facilities and laboratories using personal and shop-provided tools.
  • Safely operate work trucks and forklifts.
  • Demonstrate experience in conduit bending using both manual and electric benders.
  • Conduct job take-offs to procure the necessary materials for tasks.
  • Order electrical components and materials to perform electrical work and maintain stock levels of items such as electrical wire, breakers, fuses, conduit, strut, etc.
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop electrical systems for new testing and upgrade existing tests and components.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions to troubleshoot and repair/replace motors, motor starters, solenoids, breakers, fuses, pumps, and occasionally assist maintenance technicians.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule as required.


Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 4+ years of experience in maintaining and repairing motors, breakers, motor starters, pumps, and heaters, as well as troubleshooting chillers and boilers in support of maintenance technicians. Ability to read blueprints and one-line diagrams.
  • 4+ years of experience troubleshooting various equipment and motors to confirm necessary repairs. Ordering materials as needed and performing other tasks as assigned by management.
  • A valid and clear driver's license is mandatory.
