Tax Generalist / Partner Job Description

A professional services firm on Long Island is seeking an experienced Tax professional to join their team as a Tax Generalist / Partner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of accounting rules and regulations, applying technical knowledge in a practical business manner.
  • Lead Tax Seniors and Staff Accountants in an effective way, ensuring assignments are accomplished within budgeted time.
  • Interact with clients to discuss tax information throughout the year, developing technical knowledge through participation in organization meetings, training programs, and industry events.
  • Recognize complex technical issues, use strategic decision-making skills, and reach appropriate conclusions.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients, regularly interfacing with senior management.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of progressive Tax experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field.
  • CPA or parts passed.
  • Proficient in Corporate, International, Federal, and State & Local Tax.
  • Solid background in Corporate Restructuring, Mergers & Acquisitions, C-Corps, Partnerships, and individual/trusts.
  • Strong skills in Tax Accounting.
  • Proficiency in US GAAP, Tax Compliance, Corporate Consolidated Returns, Consolidated Federal Tax Returns, Partnership Returns, and combined State Tax Returns.
  • Proficient with Tax software, ProSystems, and CCH.
  • Microsoft Excel proficient.
  • Solid analytical, mathematical, and research skills.
  • Great interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly organized.
