Job Summary

Under the direction of the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry, the Division Chairman for Child and Adolescent Services will coordinate clinical services and directly manage all staff within his/her assigned service area(s).

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient care schedules in Cerner with provider schedules to ensure minimal wait time and superior quality within his/her service areas.
  • Directly supervise all clinical services within his/her service area(s) including the supervision of psychiatrists, psychologists, neuropsychologist(s), and psychiatric nurse clinicians.
  • Provide direct feedback to staff and hospital administration regarding functioning of child and adolescent psychiatric clinical services.
  • Perform semiannual reviews of each reporting staff person with the Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry as part of the Ongoing Provider Performance Evaluation (OPPE).
  • Provide general psychiatric assessment to referred patients in the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Clinics. Provide ongoing medication management to these patients.
  • Provide direct patient care to medically ill patients in the Stroger Emergency Department, Stroger Inpatient Pediatric Wards, and CAPC and AYAC Clinics to ensure safety, evaluate need for further hospitalization, and provide appropriate pharmacotherapy.
  • Provide education to patients, students, medical residents, and clinic staff regarding mental health screening and treatment within a medical practice.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy Medicine (DO) from accredited program and General Psychiatry residency from accredited program.
  • Completion of a general psychiatry residency from an accredited program.
  • Completion of a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship from an accredited program.
  • Licensed as a physician and a surgeon in the State of Illinois or have the ability to obtain licensure prior to starting employment.
  • Valid Illinois and Federal controlled substance license or have the ability to obtain prior to starting employment.
  • American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) Board Certified.
  • Board Certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from the ABPN.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience providing psychiatric evaluation and treatment to patients.
  • Five (5) years of post-residency clinical experience in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Three (3) years of administrative and management experience in a multi-faceted psychiatry department.
  • Experience providing emergency and inpatient psychiatric consultations to medically ill patients.
  • Experience managing services and scheduling.
