Job Summary

Bonneville County is seeking a skilled Mechanic II or III to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on county mechanized gas and diesel equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive repair and maintenance, with experience working on a variety of equipment including light, medium, and heavy gasoline and diesel engines.

The successful candidate will also have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on county mechanized gas and diesel equipment
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical defects
  • Monitor inventory of service materials and parts
  • Perform as department purchasing agent and place orders of materials as needed
  • Assist to maintain shop layout and ensure general shop, equipment, and inventory security and control

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Five years of experience in major repair of a variety of gas and diesel equipment required for Mechanic II position
  • Eight years of experience in major repair of a variety of gas and diesel vehicles required for Mechanic III position
  • ASE Certified journey level mechanic required for Mechanic II position
  • ASE Certified Master level mechanic required for Mechanic III position
  • Valid Idaho Class "A" Commercial Driver's License required

Work Environment:

The tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, and reaching. Must be able to push/pull/lift a minimum of seventy-five (75) lbs. Communicating, hearing, and seeing required for completion of essential functions.
