Job Summary

MedStar Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Health Physicist to join our team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. As a key member of our radiation safety team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe use of radiation in medical imaging and treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct imaging equipment quality assurance testing for fluoroscopy, radiograph, and ultrasound equipment to ensure compliance with state and accreditation requirements.
  • Perform patient and room surveys to ensure radiation safety, particularly in cardiovascular brachytherapy procedures, radioactive seed implant procedures, and I-131 therapy patients.
  • Oversee radioactive waste management and participate in cleaning radioactive material spills, receiving and delivering radioactive packages, and performing surveys to ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Provide general surveillance of radiation safety activities, including personnel, facility, and environmental monitoring in the Cath Lab.
  • Assist the Radiation Safety Officer and RSC in developing safety programs and providing consultation services to personnel on aspects of radiation protection.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Medical Physics or Health Physics.
  • 3-4 years of progressively more responsible experience in handling radioactive materials and calibrating imaging equipment.
Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of $139,276 - $263,744 and the opportunity to work with a leading healthcare system in the Baltimore-Washington metro region.
