Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Hardware Test Management, including methodologies, planning, execution, and reporting.
- Proficient in operating Antenna and RF testing equipment, such as OTA anechoic chambers, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and RF communication testers.
- Experience with scripting and automation tools for data collection and analysis.
- Proven track record in advancing new technologies in RF and Antenna hardware testing.
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., PTCRB, WIFI alliance) and regulatory requirements (FCC, IC, CE) along with their certification processes.
- Knowledge of CTIA test plans and Carrier OTA specifications.
- Ability to identify root causes of test discrepancies and troubleshoot issues with devices and testing platforms.
At Google, we pride ourselves on our state-of-the-art computing infrastructure. The Hardware Testing Engineering team plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability of our advanced equipment. In our R&D lab, you will design testing apparatus for prototypes and develop protocols to scale these tests globally. Collaborating closely with design engineers, you will provide insights to enhance our hardware, ensuring it meets our rigorous standards for quality and reliability.
As an OTA Test Engineer on the TechEng Wearable Wireless team, you will collaborate with the hardware design team to evaluate, troubleshoot, and validate wireless performance across various technologies (WWAN, GNSS, WLAN/Bluetooth, UWB, and emerging radio technologies) on innovative Pixel products. You will work alongside talented cross-functional teams to develop industry-leading hardware solutions.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct OTA RF testing and debugging of Pixel products, covering diverse consumer electronics form factors and wireless technologies.
- Perform conducted and radiated RF/antenna measurements, including Efficiency/Gain, TRP/TIS, EIRP/EIS, throughput, RSSI, and SAR. Generate comprehensive test reports to assist the design team in making informed decisions.
- Collaborate with Antenna, RF, Certification, and Modem Software teams to validate and test Antenna OTA systems, while defining test plans and assisting in troubleshooting discrepancies.
- Manage and maintain testing equipment, including calibration, inspection, maintenance, repairs, software/hardware updates, and vendor engagement.
- Propose innovative enhancements to existing testing practices and adopt new system-level features or testing protocols.
