Position Overview:
The Pediatric Nursing Manager oversees the Pediatric program within the organization. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing home health services while possessing expertise in pediatric nursing for patients from infancy through adolescence, with a focus on community health education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Administrator and essential staff to develop a pediatric-specific orientation process.
- Work with the branch educator to identify skills for annual competency and in-service training tailored to the pediatric demographic.
- Supervise pediatric staff and manage daily operations.
- Coordinate with clinical leadership to enhance staff effectiveness through in-service and continuing education programs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on pediatric standards and regulations.
- Utilize evidence-based guidelines to advise on best practices for pediatric care.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Administrator.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients and families to determine home care needs.
- Regularly re-evaluate nursing needs of patients.
- Initiate and adjust the plan of care based on patient status and needs.
- Develop care plans in collaboration with the patient’s physician, setting goals based on nursing diagnoses.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Provide counseling and health care instructions to patients and families.
- Identify discharge planning needs and implement them prior to patient discharge.
- Demonstrate knowledge of high-tech nursing skills relevant to pediatric care.
- Ensure adherence to infection control procedures and safety protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in patient care.
- Prepare clinical documentation and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
- Participate in on-call duties as per policy.
- Ensure availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
- Supervise home health aides and LPN/LVN care as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution; Master's preferred.
- Active and unrestricted nursing license.
- A minimum of three years of pediatric care experience in acute or home care settings.
- Valid driver's license.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support for Health Care Professionals.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and nursing skills.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication.
