Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at HCA Florida Brandon Hospital. As a key member of our Surgical Services and Central Sterile teams, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments, supplies, and equipment to the OR and other areas of the hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble instrument trays for operating rooms and oversee daily operations of all activities related to the reprocessing of reusable medical supplies and instrumentation.
  • Ensure all team members follow proper operational procedures.
  • Assume responsibility, in collaboration with SPD Manager/Supervisor, for scheduling new employee orientation, on-the-job training, and in-service education and facility quality assurance programs as needed.
  • Complete documentation required by facility related to inventory/equipment requests and repairs.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with all facility departments as necessary to ensure effective, efficient support to caregivers.
  • Prepare instruments and supplies through cleaning, packing, sterilizing, and storing procedures.
  • Perform equipment distribution and routine cleaning and maintenance.
Qualifications
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of sterilization supplies, equipment, and instruments.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of previous experience; Lead or Supervisory level experience is strongly preferred.
  • Current certification (CBSPD or HSPA).
  • Must be able to lift 100 pounds and carry 50 pounds.
