The MRI Imaging Specialist is responsible for conducting magnetic resonance imaging examinations. This role includes the upkeep of imaging equipment and the management of necessary supplies.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluates patient medical records to gather relevant history and information. Collaborates with physicians to confirm requisitions. Administers contrast agents through established IV lines or by performing venipuncture and placing IV lines. Monitors and addresses any hypersensitivity or allergic reactions. Assesses images and transmits them to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
- Processes and analyzes data stored on disks. Conducts multi-plane reconstructions and performs archiving functions. Selects and captures relevant data for physician review.
- Reviews imaging studies for overall quality and identifies any issues not addressed during the initial examination.
- Conducts calibration checks on imaging equipment. Cleans and performs minor maintenance tasks. Records equipment issues and usage. Maintains wall units and ambu cords. Orders and manages inventory of supplies.
- Provides training to medical staff and fellow technologists on the operation of the unit.
- Undertakes additional duties as assigned.
- Completion of an AMA accredited Radiologic Technology program with a minimum of one year of relevant experience.
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
- Licensed by the New Hampshire Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.
