Job Description

Job Title: Resident Care Associate 3rd Shift

Department: Nursing

Reports to: Director of Nursing

Job Summary:

The Resident Care Associate 3rd Shift is responsible for providing direct care to residents and contributing to the continuity of care and effective communication. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable of the individualized care plan for residents and provide support to residents according to their care plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care to residents and contribute to continuity of care and effective communication by reporting care provided and changes in the resident's condition to the Resident Care Director immediately.
  • Assist residents with lifts, moves, and transports, using proper body mechanics or lifting devices for accident prevention.
  • Respond to inquiries relating to requests from residents, visitors, and other personnel promptly and courteously within given time frames and established policy.
  • Is knowledgeable of the individualized care plan for residents and provides support to residents according to their care plan.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with the residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors promoting a homelike environment.
  • Fully understands all aspects of residents' rights, including the right to be free of restraints and free of abuse.
  • Performs all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures.
  • Arrive to work at the scheduled time.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Must possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED.
  • Must be able to work well with peers in a congenial work environment.
  • Must maintain the utmost compassion and dignity to the residents and adhere to the Resident Bill of Rights.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must adhere to all facility policies and procedures.

Annual Health Requirements:

  • Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, agitated residents.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
