About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Support Staff to join our team at the Nevada Cares Campus. As a Support Staff, you will play a critical role in providing quality service to our program participants in a safe and non-judgmental manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assure quality service to program participants, including supportive interaction, assessment of needs, and maintenance of a safe and secure environment.
  • Coordinate daily routines, including meal preparation, bed assignments, showers, and laundry.
  • Provide awake shift coverage and maintain ground security, conducting hourly safety and security checks.
  • De-escalate crisis situations and respond to emergencies, providing assistance to participants and staff as needed.
  • Maintain daily reports and statistical information.
  • Perform housekeeping and maintenance tasks, including changing light bulbs and plunging toilets.
  • Respond to participant questions and concerns.
  • Perform clerical duties, including answering phones and filing.
  • Maintain clear and thorough communication with participants.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with participant property management, including inventory and storage.
  • Maintain daily program maintenance, including documentation and reporting of client concerns and infractions.
  • Oversee linen documentation and inventory control, assisting participants with replacements as needed.
  • Monitor program equipment and supplies inventory, taking action to replace or restock as needed.
  • Secure approval for exceptions to standard policy and notify management of potential workflow problems.
  • Adhere to staffing schedules to provide adequate and safe staffing coverage.
  • Communicate with on-site program staff, Shelter Supervisors, and external representatives as required.
  • Direct available resources as needed.
  • Comprehend and adhere to ethical standards, program philosophy guidelines, and confidentiality laws.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and comprehend oral and written instructions.
  • General knowledge of issues and challenges unique to homelessness, substance abuse, and other related areas.
  • Ability to utilize a range of interventions to work with participants with varying needs and levels of functioning.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours and willingness to function as a team member.
  • Computer skills required.
  • CPR and First Aid training within 90 days of employment, re-certification as necessary, and T.B. testing annually.
  • A valid Nevada driver's license is preferred.
  • Must undergo a criminal background check.
