Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Observe patients' physical and psychosocial behavior, reporting observations to Charge Nurse/Head Nurse.
  2. Provide care to assigned patients while reinforcing good health practices, ensuring patient privacy.
  3. Assist in monitoring patients for pain screening and report to charge nurse any complaints and responses to prescribed treatment.
  4. Monitor patients on constant and close observation according to established protocol.
  5. Document pertinent information regarding patient's behavior and physical condition as per established guidelines.
  6. Prepare patients for examinations by performing assigned procedures such as taking vital signs, weights, and assist in the examination process.
  7. Assist patients in activities of daily living, distribute meals to patients, assist in feeding as needed, observe food and fluid intake and output, and document as needed.
  8. Participate in providing activities geared towards improving quality of life, assist in recreational, motivational, and socialization activities.
  9. Assist in controlling aggressive patients using restrictive means as a last resort.
  10. Collect pertinent subjective and objective information, check patients' property upon admission, document same, and report findings to Charge Nurse/Head Nurse.
  11. Assist in transporting patients to and from designated areas within the facility in a safe and dignified manner.
  12. Carry out established infection control protocols.
  13. Changes linens and make beds, help in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the unit, including treatment rooms and patients' rooms.
  14. Anticipate patients' needs and provide care in a culturally sensitive and safe manner.
  15. Maintain competence by attending staff development programs.
  16. Conform to policies governing dress code, attendance, and punctuality.
  17. Assist in ensuring a safe and secure environment free of hazards to reduce the risk of injury to all customers.
  18. Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff utilizing effective telephone techniques and demonstrating courteous manners at all times.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • Six (6) months of satisfactory experience assisting patients with daily living and therapeutic activities and performing other related functions in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • A valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
