Job Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: Nights, 3x12 Hour Shifts

Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours Per Week

Experience: One (1) year of nursing experience preferred

License: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse

Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
  • May require Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) depending on the float area
  • May require National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification depending on the float area

Must-Have: Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited school

Job Description:

  • Provide high-quality clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards and best practices.
  • Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting, prioritizing patient needs and safety.
  • Participate in identifying and meeting personal learning needs, staying up-to-date with the latest nursing techniques and technologies.
  • Attend educational programs based on identified learning needs, enhancing professional growth and development.
  • Utilize relevant patient education materials to promote patient understanding and empowerment.
  • Assess readiness to learn and developmental level of patient/family/caregivers, tailoring care to meet individual needs.
  • Identify expected patient outcomes and revise care plans as needed, ensuring effective care delivery.
  • Engage with interdisciplinary team members in the evaluation of patient care, fostering collaboration and communication.
  • Communicate pertinent information for continuity of care, ensuring seamless transitions and patient safety.
  • Demonstrate competence in managing patients with complex needs, encompassing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.
  • Perform bedside point-of-care testing as needed, utilizing healthcare organization standards and policies in care delivery.
  • Organize and prioritize care according to patient/family needs, utilizing available resources and expertise.
  • Consult appropriate resources for patients with complex care issues, ensuring comprehensive care delivery.
  • Develop goals to foster professional growth and achieve them within set timeframes, promoting career advancement and satisfaction.
  • Participate in the development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities, contributing to a culture of excellence.
  • Maintain effective communication within interdepartmental teams, promoting collaboration and teamwork.
  • Promote cost-effective care practices, ensuring responsible use of resources and minimizing waste.
  • Recognize data from complex situations to prioritize care, making informed decisions to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with patients/families to prepare or update care plans, ensuring patient-centered care and empowerment.
  • Utilize available multidisciplinary resources in planning care, ensuring comprehensive and effective care delivery.
  • Address cultural and ethnic issues when planning patient care, promoting cultural sensitivity and competence.
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex issues, managing time and resources effectively.
  • Engage in reading current journals and bring ideas to staff for practice applicability discussions, staying current with the latest nursing research and best practices.
