Animal Health Specialist Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Animal Health Specialist to join our team at Vetco Total Care Full Service Veterinary Hospitals.

About the Role: As a Veterinarian, you will work closely with our experienced medical team to provide exceptional patient care, conduct diagnostic testing, and develop treatment plans. You will also have the opportunity to participate in ongoing education and training to expand your skills in areas such as dentistry and nutrition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care: Provide exceptional patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care.
  • Diagnostic Testing: Conduct diagnostic testing, including laboratory tests and imaging studies.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop treatment plans for patients undergoing day hospitalization and communicate effectively with referral hospitals.
  • Surgical Procedures: Assist in the performance of routine and complex surgical procedures, including spays/neuters, abdominal exploratory, and mass removals.
Requirements:
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree: Must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
  • Active Licensure: Must have active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state where the hospital is located.
  • DEA License: Must have a current DEA license and Controlled Substance License, if applicable.
  • USDA Category I Accreditation: Must have USDA Category I Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Work Environment:

The majority of job duties are conducted in the Vetco Total Care veterinary full-service hospital. Position requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing for long periods of time.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $123,900 - $250,000 per year, depending on location, level of experience, and applicable state or local minimum wage laws.
