As a Practical/Vocational Nurse Specialist, you will be an integral part of a healthcare team, providing essential nursing care in various settings such as Intensive Care, Primary Care Clinics, or similar environments. Your role will encompass a diverse array of nursing responsibilities, including executing complex medical tasks and ensuring comprehensive patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather detailed information from patients and their families to identify primary health concerns and symptoms.
- Monitor vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration, while also conducting behavioral health assessments.
- Deliver personalized nursing care tailored to the physician's medical directives and the unique needs of each patient.
- Review and administer immunizations, ensuring correct dosages for all age groups.
- Assist physicians during examinations and various diagnostic procedures.
- Educate patients and their families on self-care techniques and document the teaching process.
Qualifications
Eligibility: Open to U.S. Citizens
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the experience requirements outlined below. Experience includes both paid and unpaid work, such as volunteer roles through recognized service programs. Your resume should clearly reflect your relevant experience, and if qualifying through education, transcripts will be required.
Licensure Requirements: A valid license to practice as a Practical or Vocational Nurse in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia is required. Candidates who have applied for licensure may also be considered, provided they submit the necessary documentation.
Experience Requirements:
- For GS-03: Candidates meeting the licensure requirement are fully qualified.
- For GS-04: At least six months of relevant nursing experience is required, including tasks such as measuring vital signs and updating patient records.
- For GS-05: One year of nursing experience is necessary, including administering medications and immunizations.
- For GS-06: One year of nursing experience in a supervised medical environment is required, demonstrating knowledge of human anatomy and sterile procedures.
This position may be utilized to fill Practical/Vocational Nurse roles across various specialties, including but not limited to General, Pediatric, and Internal Medicine.
