Overview:

The Chief Philanthropy Officer is accountable for overseeing the strategic direction and operational management of a significant philanthropic initiative within the organization. Key Responsibilities:


• Uphold the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.

• Establish and meet fundraising targets for the foundation, collaborating effectively across the philanthropic team and engaging with boards to drive successful fundraising efforts. The Chief Philanthropy Officer will manage a portfolio of major gifts, dedicating a significant portion of their time to cultivating, stewarding, and soliciting major gifts to meet revenue objectives.

• Oversee hiring processes and make decisions regarding personnel management within the department.

• Conduct performance evaluations for various units and disciplines, ensuring adherence to organizational policies.

• Approve changes in compensation, staffing strategies, and budget allocations.

• Manage all operational aspects of the Foundation, including Business Management and Donor Services.

• Participate as a member of the Foundation Management Team and collaborate with leadership teams.

• Serve as the business manager for the Foundation and Endowment Fund, overseeing financial transactions and contractual obligations.

• Attend and contribute to board and committee meetings, providing leadership to the Audit Committee in implementing audit initiatives.

• Supervise the annual external audit for the Endowment Fund and facilitate internal audits as necessary.

• Collaborate with the Foundation CPA to report key performance indicators to the organization.

• Manage the allocation of foundation funding to relevant hospital programs and projects, including processing requests for Endowed Chair funding.

• Oversee office management tasks, including equipment contracts, supply orders, and maintenance.

• Ensure compliance with financial and donor data security regulations.

• Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and foundation assets.

• Direct all development and donor services activities, including prospect research, gift processing, and database management.

• Ensure timely and accurate issuance of gift receipts and letters in accordance with IRS standards.

• Coordinate with data services to ensure accurate reporting of philanthropic contributions.

• Supervise the maintenance of a comprehensive donor database, including board members and prospective donors.

• Lead initiatives for donor research and data analysis, providing strategic recommendations for fundraising success.

• Adapt fundraising strategies to meet the unique needs of diverse donor populations.

• Uphold the confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to all regulatory standards.

• Demonstrate commitment to the core values of the organization and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

A. Education and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Government, or Public Administration is required; advanced degrees are preferred.

B. Experience

  • 5-7 years of experience in a Non-Profit Director role, demonstrating expertise in strategic fundraising and non-profit management.
  • 10+ years of supervisory experience in business management, preferably within a non-profit context.
  • Proven success in enhancing internal controls and foundation funding processes.
  • Experience in dynamic and rapidly growing environments.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a focus on team development and accountability.
  • Demonstrated success in various fundraising strategies, including major gifts and capital campaigns.
  • Proficient in planned giving principles and fundraising software.
  • Ability to cultivate long-term relationships with a diverse range of donors.

C. Certifications

  • CFRE certification is preferred.

Work Schedule:

Full-time, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day.
