Herc Rentals is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanic A to lead our fleet maintenance operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our equipment fleet.

• Develop and Maintain a Preventative Maintenance Schedule: Create and implement a consistent schedule for performing preventative maintenance on all Herc-owned fleet equipment at your branch.
• Operate and Test Equipment: Ensure that all equipment meets Herc Rentals' quality and efficiency standards by operating and testing it regularly.
• Perform Routine Maintenance and Repairs: Independently perform routine maintenance and repairs on all Herc fleet equipment and trucks, including diagnosing internal combustion engines, DC electrical systems, propane systems, hydraulics, and fuel systems.
• Conduct Major Repairs: Use diagnostic tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments to perform major repairs on fleet equipment independently.
• Assist with Customer Damage Estimates and Repairs: Assist the shop lead with customer damage estimates and repairs, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and effectively.
• Enter and Review Work Orders: Enter and review work orders, and complete part ordering via the fleet management system.
• Recondition and Replace Parts: Recondition and replace assorted parts of heavy equipment, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards.
• Diagnose Problem Areas: Diagnose problem areas for any significant wear or tear on equipment, and implement corrective actions to prevent future issues.
• Take Service Calls: Take service calls when the shop lead is absent, and dispatch Field Service Mechanics to ensure that repairs are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
• Maintain a Clean and Organized Work Area: Maintain the work area in a clean and organized manner, ensuring that all tools and equipment are properly stored and secured.
• Produce Timely and Detailed Service Reports: Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs, ensuring that all information is accurate and up-to-date.

• Technical Knowledge: Possess a strong understanding of technical schematics, owner manuals, and product warning labels.
• Tool Proficiency: Own a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services.
• Computer Skills: Possess computer skills to support entering information into systems, including the fleet management system.
• Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with colleagues and customers.
• Interpersonal Skills: Possess strong interpersonal skills, including teamwork, listening, and dependability.
• Education: Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
