Are you a seasoned nurse seeking a position with fewer weekend commitments in a dynamic unit that serves diverse age groups? This opportunity may be ideal for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage 20 Pre/Post rooms for patients undergoing general surgeries, as well as GI, cardiac, and pulmonary procedures, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:3-4.
- Oversee a 14 PACU bay unit catering to patients of all ages receiving anesthesia, maintaining a patient ratio of 1:1-2.
- Enjoy self-scheduling with a variety of 8- and 12-hour shifts available.
About the Recovery Unit:

POSITION SUMMARY: The Nursing Department at Avera McKennan expects all nurses to deliver competent nursing care and exhibit professionalism in their role as an RN. The American Nurses Association (ANA) scope and standards of practice are integral to this position. The Registered Nurse is accountable for utilizing the nursing process to provide care for patients, taking responsibility for their actions and the outcomes of care delivered during their shifts.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduation from a CCNE or NLN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred. Graduation from an approved nursing program is acceptable.
- A Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and REGISTRATIONS:
- Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Dakota or meet multi-state licensure requirements.
- Specialty certification is preferred.
- Membership in a professional organization is preferred.

Work Schedule
- Varied Shifts: Monday-Friday; 72 hours every two weeks
- every fifth weekend
- one to two holidays per year
- 9 call shifts every 10 weeks, including overnight and weekend shifts

The hourly wage for this position is outlined below. Actual hourly rate will be determined based on experience.
