Key Responsibilities
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-focused care by performing a range of delegated basic patient care tasks. Collaborating with Registered Nurses (RNs) and other healthcare team members, the LPN provides individualized care that aligns with the standards of practice.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering direct, evidence-based care to patients as directed by physicians or RNs.
- Assisting with medical procedures and monitoring patient conditions.
- Conducting lab tests and procedures within the LPN scope of practice after demonstrating proficiency.
- Accurately documenting care provided in the patient medical record.
- Serving as a resource for department staff, students, and volunteers to enhance patient care quality.
Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- IV Certification for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN IV) is required.
