Position Overview
Under the supervision of a registered nurse or team leader, the role involves delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients.
Focuses on the overall health and comfort of patients; monitors and documents treatment progress while reporting any changes in the patient's condition to the supervising nurse.

Administers prescribed medications as directed.

Key Responsibilities
· Exhibits proficiency in daily patient care, offering guidance and support to staff in the implementation of current wound care protocols.
· Ensures safety, comfort, and treatment of patients in accordance with established legal, ethical, and institutional standards.
· Participates in wound care education programs aimed at enhancing patient outcomes through the latest techniques and procedures.
· Educates patients and their families on preventive, curative, and rehabilitative measures related to wound care.
· Maintains documentation of all patient education efforts.
· Provides care and education for patients with complex or non-healing wounds.
Clinical Duties
· Applies wound care ointments and surgical dressings as needed.
· Conducts sterile and non-sterile dressing changes.
· Utilizes silver nitrate for debridement procedures.
· Performs conservative sharp debridement when necessary.
· Manages drainage collection devices and pouches.
· Conducts quantitative swab cultures.
· Measures wounds linearly.
· Performs wound irrigation and cleansing.
· Applies Venous Compression Wraps as required.
· Conducts diabetic foot examinations.
· Executes ankle-brachial index tests.
· Utilizes whirlpool therapy as indicated.
· Applies and monitors vacuum-assisted closure devices.
· Implements adjunctive modalities (documentation of advanced training and competency required) such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, Anodyne therapy, and pulsed lavage.
· Performs skin integrity assessments.
· Conducts suture removal when appropriate.
Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.

Experience:

Licensure and Certification:

Current RN licensure is required.

BLS certification is mandatory.

Must provide a copy of diploma or official transcript reflecting the highest level of education achieved.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must possess the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English proficiently.
