Job Description

Arconic is seeking a skilled Welder to join our team in Visalia, CA.

The successful candidate will be responsible for making high-quality welds on metal extrusions to form industrial doors and frames. This is a 1st shift position with a competitive hourly rate of $23.59.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all Kawneer rules and regulations.
  • Identify and select materials by part number and product finish.
  • Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, shelves, and machinery by hand.
  • Inspect extrusions for scratches, dents, and quality.
  • Read and interpret take-off sheets, consolidated cut lists, and shop orders to determine machine setup and sequence of operation.
  • Memorize standard door configurations.
  • Select appropriate rails, tops, and bottoms, ensuring all match work order.
  • Place fabricated components on work benches in welding booths.
  • Insert top rails into side rails and place on welding racks or jigs.
  • Position and clamp together components preparatory to welding.
  • Able to position and clamp together components creating multiple door configurations.
  • Weld metal extrusions together following company welding processes.
  • Perform related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding.
  • Weld both anodized and painted doors to company specifications.
  • Weld at a rate of 60 to 80 doors per day.
  • Welds must meet company quality standards and be defect-free.
  • Weld thin muttons (grid work).
  • Configure and weld cross rails.
  • Remove welded components from welding racks and stack on carts outside of welding booths.
  • Follow the MDR process for scrap material.
  • Perform quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Verify all measurements for accuracy.
  • Complete checklists, logs, and reports.
  • Flexible to work in other areas of the plant.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Effectively problem-solve and engage in ABS activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • One to six months related mig welding work experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, safety rules, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondents.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other employees and supervisors.
  • Ability to count, add, subtract, and multiply simple numbers.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with and respond to minor problems in standard work situations.
  • Able to measure to 1/32 of an inch.
