About the Role
The Sanitation Specialist position at ABM Industries is a critical role that requires attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment. As a Sanitation Specialist, you will be responsible for providing cleaning and upkeep services to assigned areas, ensuring that all facilities are maintained to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all tasks assigned based on the ABM Sanitation Program, adhering to all food safety and safety guidelines.
- Disassemble, clean/sanitize, and reassemble equipment, ensuring that all machinery is properly maintained and functioning correctly.
- Accurately and safely clean equipment areas or periodic work, following established procedures and protocols.
- Sweep, mop, and maintain offices, restrooms, lunchrooms, and outside parameters, ensuring that all areas are clean and free of debris.
- Follow and maintain the sanitation program, utilizing a Master Cleaning Schedule and ensuring implementation of accurate procedures in all tasks completed.
- Work with leadership to maintain plant procedures and operations guidelines, ensuring compliance with food laws and labeling requirements.
- Familiar with the use of appropriate cleaners and sanitizers for all food processing equipment and plant facilities.
- Perform daily self-inspection systems and techniques to monitor sanitation issues with all equipment.
- Inspect work prior to it being checked by lead, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standards.
- Must be knowledgeable with the Lock out Tag out Safety program.
- Helps in training of new employees or employees who change job classifications.
- Reports all equipment problems to the leadership or supervisor immediately.
- Communicates all matters relating to safety and health and positively promotes safety in our operations.
- Understands and follows all general and specific safe job procedures that apply to your job.
- Plans and carries out job assignments without creating hazards to yourself and other employees.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces while following confined space protocols where applicable.
- Must be able to work in all conditions, including wet, humid, hot, and cold.
- Must be able to work at all heights within the facility.
- Must be able to learn and work industrial equipment, such as scissor lifts, boom lifts, and floor scrubbers.
- Working schedule could change periodically throughout the week and must be able to have a flexible work schedule.
- Must be able to come to work on time, ready to work, and work entire scheduled hours each day.
Requirements
- Prior food plant sanitation or related experience is a plus, preferably in a food manufacturing facility.
- Must be flexible with shifts and days off. Must be available on weekends/nights as your schedule requires.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Ability to follow instructions and comprehend safety procedures.
- Must be able to follow all facility GMP's, policies, and procedures.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. overhead.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. up to waist level.
- Must be able to bend, twist, stoop, and kneel.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to distinguish colors and smells.
- Must be able to distinguish audible alarms.
- Must be capable of rapid movement to all areas of the plant.
- Must be able to climb stairs and fixed/portable ladders.
- Ability to crawl under and onto machinery and equipment.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must meet all requirements to receive approval for working in specific ATS environments (if applicable), including ten-year work history if available.
