Position Summary:

Responsible for capturing x-ray images of specific areas of the human body for diagnostic evaluation and providing assistance within the imaging department. This role focuses solely on plain films and fluoroscopy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicates procedures to patients to ensure comprehension and provides relevant educational resources.
  • Facilitates patient transport to and from clinical areas, verifying identity according to established protocols. Aids technologists in preparing patients for radiological examinations.
  • Assists with the organization and retrieval of patient reports and charts, ensuring accurate matching of films to folders.
  • Adheres to radiation safety protocols to minimize unnecessary exposure.
  • Prepares and administers contrast agents and medications within the scope of practice and in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Monitors patients during procedures and reports any unusual findings. Suggests updates to protocols as necessary.
  • Ensures timely submission of high-quality images and documentation to PACS, including proper lead markers and patient data.
  • Maintains equipment functionality and reports any issues to appropriate personnel. Implements lock/tag out procedures when necessary.
  • Contributes to maintaining a clean and organized department, including procedure rooms and storage areas.
  • May perform limited CT procedures in emergency situations when a CT Technologist is unavailable.
  • Operates in a state of constant alertness and safety.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or completion of a radiology certification program.

Experience Requirements:

  • No prior experience necessary.

Physical Demands:

  • Regular standing and walking.
  • Frequent visual acuity and depth perception for near and far distances.
  • Regular auditory communication for sharing information.
  • Frequent lifting and moving of patients and objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
  • Frequent use of hands for reaching, gripping, and data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, and repetitive movements.

Licensure and Certifications Required:

State-specific licensure and certifications in accordance with local regulations and standards.
