The Jr. Camp Counselor position is a seasonal role within the Village of Palmetto Bay's Summer Camp Program. As a member of the camp team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success and enjoyment of our campers. This position involves assisting the Camp Counselors in supervising children, conducting various camp activities, and maintaining a safe and clean environment.

About the Job:

  • Supervise and assist campers during all activities, including lunch and snack periods.
  • Participate in various camp activities, such as recreational, social, educational, sporting, and physical activities, field trips, and special events.
  • Maintain order and discipline among campers, both inside and outside the classrooms, and during off-site field trips.
  • Ensure a smooth drop-off and pick-up process for campers, adhering to the assigned group schedule.
  • Keep the classroom areas clean and report any hazardous conditions.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • Prior experience in a recreational camp program or volunteering in a similar setting is essential.
    • Must be fluent in English; Spanish is a plus.
  • Licenses and Certifications:
    • Certification in CPR and First Aid is mandatory before starting the Village Camp Program.

Working Conditions and Physical Factors:

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various climate conditions.
  • Exposure to chemicals, solvents, dust, grease/oil, fumes, vibration, and noise may occur.
  • Requires physical strength and agility to perform tasks, including bending, twisting, walking, climbing, reaching, jumping, pushing, lifting, and carrying.
