Senior Principal Flight Safety System Engineer

The Senior Principal Flight Safety System Engineer position is a critical role within the Energetics and Propulsion Department, responsible for the design and development of propulsion technology to support the Land Warfare and Air Defense mission area.
Responsibilities- Develop, review, update, and approve system verification artifacts and system requirements.
- Design electrical circuits and identify issues, propose solutions, and ensure appropriate action is taken to mitigate issues.
- Work independently as a self-starter and effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- This is a hybrid role, and the selected applicant will work with the hiring manager to set a schedule.
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
- 10 years of experience with technical engineering background, leading teams in the aerospace or government sector, or an advanced degree and 7 years of relevant experience.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date, with U.S. citizenship required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Advanced degree.
- 12+ years of directly related experience in mechanical and electrical design.
- Specific experience developing electrical sub-systems used in flight termination, such as electronic arm fire devices, flight termination receivers, flight termination controllers, tracking systems, etc.
- Experience developing and qualifying flight systems for harsh environments.
- Working knowledge of RCC319.
- Experience developing destruct termination devices.
- Experience in business development and technology road mapping.
- Demonstrated success as a team leader.

The salary range for this role is $118,000 - $246,000 USD, and hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
This role is a U.S.-based role, and RTX anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted, but factors such as candidate flow and business necessity may require RTX to shorten or extend the application window.
