Job Title: Radiation Therapy Specialist

About the Role: Christie Clinic is seeking a highly skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team of dedicated professionals in the Department of Radiation-Oncology. As a Radiation Therapy Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering therapeutic doses of radiation to treat cancer patients as directed by the Radiation Oncologist.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver planned courses of radiation independently.
  • Verify patient treatment prescriptions, diagnoses, and chart information.
  • Monitor patients receiving radiation therapy.
  • Prepare rooms and equipment for patients, ensuring proper operation and maintenance.
  • Maintain patient markings and observe adverse reactions, reporting findings to the Radiation Oncologist.
  • Maintain quality control procedures for equipment and report any issues or inaccuracies.
  • Ensure a clean environment for patients and adhere to radiation safety measures.
  • Assist in tumor localization procedures, prepare immobilization devices, and perform simulations.
  • Contribute to dosimetry procedures and perform daily accelerator warm-up and QA procedures.
  • Maintain records of daily treatments and other required documents.
  • Support new personnel during orientation and perform patient billing as needed.

Requirements:

  • Registered Radiation Therapy Technologist Certificate or 4-year degree through a Radiation Therapy Baccalaureate program.
  • Maintenance of accreditation through ARRT and licensure through IEMA and Department of Nuclear Safety.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Work Environment: Christie Clinic's Department of Radiation-Oncology operates in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids, and other waste common to a healthcare environment. The work schedule includes regular hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
