Medical Biller Role

At Step By Step Counseling & Consulting Services, PLLC, we are seeking a skilled Medical Biller to play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our administrative office. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks requiring data analysis, in-depth evaluation, and sound judgment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit accurate and complete billing data and medical claims to insurance companies, ensuring timely and efficient processing.
  • Ensure patient medical information is up-to-date and accurate, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Prepare bills and invoices, and document amounts due for medical procedures and services, utilizing billing software and electronic medical records.
  • Collect and review referrals and pre-authorizations, verifying coverage and benefits.
  • Monitor and record late payments, and follow up on missed payments to resolve financial discrepancies, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Examine patient bills for accuracy and request any missing information, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate and appeal denied claims, utilizing negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Help patients develop patient payment plans, providing financial counseling and support.
  • Maintain billing software by updating rate changes, cash spreadsheets, and current collection reports, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Care Administration, Accounting, or a relevant field, with a strong foundation in healthcare and finance.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Medical Biller or similar role, with a proven track record of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Solid understanding of billing software and electronic medical records, with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to patients and insurance companies.
  • Outstanding problem-solving and organizational abilities, with a strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
