Respiratory Therapist

As a Respiratory Therapist at CHRISTUS Health, you will be responsible for providing high-quality pulmonary care to adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients in a critical, non-critical, and chronically ill setting. Under the direction of a physician, you will perform patient assessments, institute respiratory care plans, and conduct various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures in all areas of the hospital.
Responsibilities:
- Meet the expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Emergency response, including Code Blue and White situations;
- Airway management, including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning;
- Delivery of aerosolized drugs;
- Ventilator management, including setup and operation;
- Oral hygiene;
- Airway retaining device placement and maintenance;
- Airway support device management, including BiPAP and CPAP devices;
- Oxygen delivery devices and therapeutic monitoring;
- Chest film analysis;
- Bloodgas collection and analysis;
- EKG analysis;
- Accurate and complete documentation;
- Cleaning and stocking of equipment and supplies as necessary;
- Participation in CAP and JC surveys.
Advanced Practice Skills:
- Therapeutic gas management and monitoring, including INO and HeO2;
- Pulmonary Function Testing;
- Bronchoscopy assist;
- Hemodynamic Monitoring;
- Waveform analysis;
- Nocturnal SpO2 evaluation (Desaturation Studies);
- Polysomnography;
- Transport duties.
Requirements:
See licensure and/or certification requirements
- 3 years of experience preferred
BLS required
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC required
