Revenue Recognition Finance Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Revenue Recognition Finance Manager to join our team at Microsoft Corporation. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to work in a high-performing team at a world-class company.

The Revenue Recognition team is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of billions of dollars of revenue across the world for both US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and local statutory reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate customer agreements, including amendments to those agreements, document the proper technical revenue conclusions, and prepare revenue adjustments in accordance with ASC 606 Microsoft revenue policies, and customer/field intent.
  • Develop and maintain depth and breadth of knowledge over Microsoft products, services, and policies.
  • Engage with deal desk to gather deal-specific information and business context required to effectively complete contract reviews and drive compliance within Microsoft empowerment guidance.
  • Review peer's work product for completeness and accuracy once proficiency of product and services knowledge is attained.
  • Perform quarter-end close revenue tasks independently.
  • Contribute to process-improvement efforts by collecting and reviewing business partner and team feedback and incorporating industry best practices.
  • Assist with internal and external audit queries on revenue recognition.
  • Identify and assess financial statement risk to provide input on initiatives to enhance control compliance with US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX).
Qualifications
  • Required/Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 2+ years accounting or finance experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 1+ year(s) accounting or finance experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Additional or Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 5+ years accounting or finance experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 3+ years accounting or finance experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
    • Professional accounting certification such as CPA or equivalent.
    • Communication skills to influence business partners and deliver complex messages with clarity.
    • Planning and organizational skills with ability to work under tight deadlines.
    • Effective interaction and communication across a broad spectrum of audiences.
    • Ability to work both independently and as a team player.
    • Experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles.
    • Experience in the technology or software industry.
    • ASC 606 experience/practical application.
