Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse III to join our team at Bon Secours. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional nursing care to patients, collaborate with staff and physicians, and contribute to the delivery of quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive physical assessments of patients and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Implement and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, patient outcomes, and revise planned care accordingly.
  • Collaborate with and assist staff, physicians, and other health team personnel in the delivery of coordinated patient care.
  • Communicate relevant information to other members of the healthcare team.
  • Aware of and work to attain (maintain) the quality improvement standards of the unit.
  • Maintain clinical skills competencies.
  • Maintain patient records and charts to ensure accurate communication and continuity of patient's medical treatment and nursing care.
  • Utilize effective interpersonal skills to provide professional care delivery to patients of various ages and cultures.
  • Assess patient's physical and emotional response to treatment.
  • Assist patient/family in coping with patients' illness.
  • Attend all mandatory in-services and required staff meetings.
  • Recognize own limitations and seek assistance and acquire sufficient information necessary to function effectively in assigned healthcare setting.
  • Integrate cost-effective measures into practice.
  • Perform nursing care according to standards of care, with hospital policy and procedure; and the St. Francis mission.
  • Advance personal professional growth through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-services, and workshops.
  • Demonstrate ability to function under supervision.
  • Assign patient care according to the nursing skill, knowledge, and scope of practice of staff.
  • Assess the needs of the unit of educational and discharge planning needs of patients.
  • Assess the need within the unit for care planning conferences or case reviews and independently initiate such conferences as required.
  • Develop and evaluate Standards of Nursing Care (Practice).
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of new treatment modes or methods of practice.
  • Facilitate the learning experience of student nurses and externs.
  • Participate in orientation of new staff members, externs.
  • Encourage peers to seek educational opportunities and use knowledge to teach others.
  • Demonstrate ability to act as a clinical role model to other staff members regarding appropriate care.
  • Assist in the identification, action, planning, and evaluation of unit goals.
  • Demonstrate qualities of leadership in daily practice.
  • Demonstrate accountability for nursing practice and for professional work environment.
  • Participate in unit-based QA program.
  • Act as a liaison with specific MD/Services to improve communication and understanding.
  • Utilize resources available within hospital and community to meet patient care needs.
  • Achieve and maintain BLS certification.
  • Adhere to Standard Precautions/Isolation Protocol at all times.
  • Successful completion of Connect Care Modules: Essentials IP110, EMar Rx210, General Nursing Documentation IP300 with a minimum score of 84%.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Must have a Diploma or Associate Degree with five (5) years of experience in nursing practice or a BSN with three (3) years of experience or an MSN in nursing with two (2) years' experience in area of specialty.
  • National Nursing certification in an approved nursing specialty.
  • Current Licensure with the South Carolina Board of Nurse Examiners.
