Role Description:
The Assistant Retail Location Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily functions of the retail establishment, assisting in the management of all personnel at the site, with a primary emphasis on retail operations. This position acts as the right hand to the Location Manager, collaborating closely to ensure seamless operations, effective staff training, execution of promotions, and adherence to merchandising strategies established by Next Adventure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the efficient and smooth operation of daily retail activities.
- Implement company-wide sales strategies, markdowns, and promotional activities.
- Adjust inventory transfer orders to align with the needs of the location.
- Execute the merchandising vision set forth by the buyers and Location Manager, ensuring proper stock levels.
- Conduct regular staff check-ins and participate in performance evaluations.
- Assist in the recruitment process through interviews.
- Inspire Team Leads to excel in their roles and manage retail departments effectively.
- Develop and oversee training programs for Associates and Team Leads, tracking their progress.
- Provide weekly updates on location operations and communicate changes to staff.
- Perform advanced functions in POS and WMS systems.
- Address customer issues and complaints in alignment with Next Adventure's values.
- Assist with in-store IT troubleshooting and know when to escalate issues.
- Facilitate warranty claims and identify unique solutions beyond standard policies.
- Purchase used gear in accordance with company practices and utilize RAPID software.
- Support rental department operations and meet standards for entry-level Technicians.
- Handle rental functions such as issuing and returning rental items, creating customer profiles, and managing reservations.
- Maintain product knowledge in winter hard goods and camping equipment.
- Engage in reporting and loss prevention strategies.
- Manage staff scheduling and prepare meeting agendas for the location.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role within outdoor retail.
- Experience managing a team of 10-20 employees.
- Background in thrift and consignment operations.
- Proficient in handling warranty claims and customer service issues.
- Strong leadership, training, and team management skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and situational awareness.
- Outstanding customer service aptitude.
- Solid understanding of outdoor equipment and the industry.
- Ability to perform light to moderate lifting with reasonable accommodations.
- Willingness to stand for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
