Hospice Aide Job Description

At Tabitha, we empower people to live joyfully, age gratefully. As a Hospice Aide, you will play a vital role in enhancing the ability of our seniors to remain at home, living independently for as long as possible.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide personal care, emotional support, and assistance with activities of daily living to our seniors.
  2. Contribute to the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of our seniors through respectful, professional, and personable interaction.
  3. Maintain accurate records of senior care and adhere to Tabitha's policies and procedures.
  4. Participate in meetings and in-services on both department and company levels.
  5. Comply with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality regarding senior information.
  6. Perform work duties within the assigned work environment, prioritizing assignments to complete care for seniors in allotted time.
  7. Drive from one senior to another, adapting to changing road and/or weather conditions.
  8. Use strength, agility, and stamina to gain access to each senior's home, carrying needed equipment into and out of the home.
  9. Evaluate emergency situations, performing CPR when necessary based on training.
  10. Maintain a valid Driver's License and Automobile insurance at least equal to the state minimums.
  11. Participate in competency training/testing when required by policy or other business need of Tabitha.
Additional Essential Functions
  1. Provide meal preparation, household, and other duties assigned by senior to facilitate self-care at home.
Qualifications

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language, including medical terminology. Ability to recognize and interpret non-verbal cues, respond calmly and clearly to emergencies and emotional situations. Must have unrestricted lift/push/pull ability and pass a 50-pound physical exam demonstrating strength and agility prior to employment and at Tabitha's discretion.

At least age 18, High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, Home Health Aide or Nursing Assistant experience preferred. CNA Certification in good standing as demonstrated by inclusion on the Nebraska State Registry, required at time of hire. Medication Aide training/competency testing prior to client care required for Home Health Care aide positions. CPR required. Certifications must be kept up to date at the expense of the employee. Valid Nebraska Driver's license (unless otherwise allowed by law) and a good driving record required. Must possess auto insurance at or above Nebraska statutory requirements. Must meet Tabitha's vaccination requirements.
