Position Overview

The Financial Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the financial planning and accounting functions for a real estate organization and its affiliates. This position entails managing the monthly closing process, invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and assisting in the preparation of annual property budgets, while also coordinating audits and tax filings with external accounting firms. The Financial Operations Manager will play a key role in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and systems aimed at enhancing internal efficiency and minimizing reporting timelines, all while ensuring the integrity of financial data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the monthly financial closing process, invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash management.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate production and review of financial reports, communicating results internally and with stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual property budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for monthly financials, property budgets, annual audits, and tax submissions.
  • Develop, document, and maintain effective internal controls.
  • Identify and implement systems or processes to improve internal efficiency, reduce reporting times, and ensure data accuracy.
  • Supervise accounting personnel and manage the use of financial software for general ledger functions.
  • Establish and oversee the company's financial reporting IT system.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP standards, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder needs across all accounts and ledgers.
  • Undertake additional tasks and projects as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality work.
  • Proficient in GAAP, taxation, financial reporting, data analysis, and forecasting methodologies.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining organization.
  • A collaborative team player with excellent prioritization abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and financial management software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with various organizational levels and external parties.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Experience in analyzing data to provide actionable insights.
  • Knowledgeable about the real estate industry, including construction, commercial, and multi-family properties.
  • Adaptable in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Experience

  • 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in real estate management.

Equipment and Travel

  • This role may require the use of a personal or company-provided vehicle for bank deposits, property visits, and other responsibilities. Safe driving is essential.
  • Professional attire is required.
  • Some travel to other company locations may be necessary based on business needs.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Public accounting audit experience is preferred but not essential.
