Position Overview:
Join a prestigious academic healthcare institution as an Orthopaedic Nurse Associate (RN) within our Orthopaedics Clinic.
In this role, the Orthopaedic Nurse Associate (RN) will oversee the coordination of diagnostic and therapeutic plans for a designated patient group, ensuring seamless collaboration among clinical research, physicians, and patients.
The Nurse Associate will facilitate physician interactions with referring doctors, nursing personnel, hospital administration, ancillary services, insurance providers, and other relevant departments, while assisting physicians with various tasks essential for managing clinical research initiatives.
Additionally, the Nurse Associate serves as a vital link between physicians, patients, and their families, aiding physicians during bedside procedures and delivering patient care in the clinic as required.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage, respond to, and triage patient inquiries directed to the physician.
2. Support the physician in the clinic or procedural settings during patient assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and therapeutic interventions. Monitor patient vital signs under conscious sedation throughout procedures.
3. Provide guidance to patients regarding lifestyle changes, medication protocols, potential side effects, and drug interactions, utilizing appropriate communication techniques.
4. Relay follow-up appointment details, ancillary testing, and scheduling needs to clinic coordinators.
5. Organize patient admissions and coordinate test/procedure orders with fellows, attending physicians, and nursing staff.
6. Assist in the coordination of research programs by evaluating patients for eligibility in clinical studies and outcome assessments. Maintain office documentation, review patient charts, and enter data for demographic databases, contributing to data analysis and summarization.
Qualifications:
1. Experience in a community health environment is essential.
2. An Associate Degree in Nursing is required; a BSN or higher is preferred.
Associate Degree Nurses must enroll in a BSN program within six to nine months of hire and progress towards completion within 30 months. ADN nurses are eligible for 100% tuition reimbursement for an accredited BSN program.
3. Must hold an active Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois.
4. A minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse is required.

In this role, it is expected that you will typically work around 40 hours per week.
Generally, you will be scheduled for the Day shift, approximately from 8am to 4:30pm, without on-call shifts. The workweek will be Monday through Friday.
Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination requirements is mandatory for employment. Medical and religious exemptions will be evaluated in accordance with applicable laws.
