Job Description

Charter Schools USA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director to join our Education Leadership team. The successful candidate will report to the State Director and play a key role in driving the excellence of our K-12 network of schools' academic performance, operations, educational programs, and core educational strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Learning: Utilize existing data to diagnose and assess school needs, increase schools' capacity to seek and incorporate new ideas and practices, and facilitate implementing changes in legislation regarding school improvement.
  • Talent Development: Build schools' capacity to support school improvement, provide coaching and support to school principals and leadership teams, and engage in self-development and continuous improvement.
  • Customer Service Culture: Facilitate shaping and changing the prevailing culture in schools, build a culture of pride, trust, and respect, and monitor an effective approach to bullying prevention.
  • Operational Excellence: Implement rigorous project management, structures, protocols, and processes, and oversee and manage all operations and functions of the schools in the portfolio.
  • Finance, Grants & HR: Ensure the region's financial health, work with the State Director regarding school leadership, and lead professional development of the regional team and education leadership.
  • IT: Oversee the region's IT services to ensure the schools are properly outfitted with the technology needed to ensure student and staff success.
  • Marketing & Enrollment: Coordinate and manage internal marketing and customer service, hold school leaders accountable for meeting regional enrollment targets, and ensure schools are compliant with regional enrollment reporting and maximizing allowable funding.
  • Governance: Participate in pre-board calls for the region, review and approve monthly principal board reports, and follow up with new leaders after the pre-board call.
  • Facilities: Oversee the region's facilities' services to ensure the schools are maintained in such a way that encourages student learning and success.
  • Local Decision Making: Participate as needed in meetings with various departments, committees, boards, groups, and parents about matters pertaining to the area.
  • Equity: Assist the State Director in ensuring that the schools in the state are culturally and socially responsive and have equitable access to resources necessary for the success of each student.
  • Resource Optimization: Monitor and assist with the Florida Professional Development Evaluation Protocol, use the power of strategizing rather than focusing on one single strategy, and model the effective implementation of resource optimization.
Requirements
  • Master's degree (MA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years related experience (in school administration) and/or training.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Student Information System (SIS), preparing reports, and visual presentations.
